How should I care for an oil painting?
Oil paintings hold up well over time, but do best out of direct sunlight and away from heat or high humidity, which can affect the canvas and pigment. Dust gently with a soft, dry brush rather than a cloth or household cleaner. Because oil paint keeps curing for months after a piece is finished, avoid wrapping or pressing a new painting against another surface early on. If an older painting looks dull or discolored, a professional conservator can safely clean and revarnish it.
Are frames included?
Originals ship unframed so the piece travels safely and so you can choose a frame that fits your space. A simple float frame or a traditional wood frame with a linen liner both suit these paintings well. You can reach out for a recommendation for a specific piece.
Do you ship outside the United States?

How does commissioning a painting work?
Every commission moves through four stages: inquiry, sitting or reference photo session, painting, and delivery. These are outlined in full on the Commissions page. Heather replies to new inquiries within 3 business days.
Do you offer painting classes?
Yes. Heather teaches ongoing portrait and drawing classes for both youth and adults, grounded in the same atelier method used in her studio work. She is also the longtime host of the television series Portraits in Pastels. Visit the Classes page for current offerings and to request a spot.
